Bringing a dog or a cat home means bringing home a true friend. Please help us "Pic-A-Pet4Home" create a new life for a homeless pet

“Temple Dogs/ Temple cats or Homeless dogs/Homeless cats” are creatures that are a familiar sight; we can see them almost everywhere. Their lives end mostly from car accidents or by being poisoned. Very often they are abuse in unimaginable ways by heartless people, such as being scalded and having their heads smashed. Worse than that, dogs are slain for food. What we have just told you are the dreadful realities in the lives of these poor animals - the animals that many of us say are human's best friends.

Today, there are more than 100,000 homeless dogs and cats in Bangkok. We can honestly say that the “homeless dog problem” is one of the main problems awaiting the new Bangkok Governor. It was apparent that former governors were not able to eradicate or reduce the number of homeless animals. All members of Pic-A-Pet4Home deem this problem a very important issue. We think that the ways to reduce the number of homeless animals are not too difficult to achieve if only the central government and/or the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) run a campaign against animal abandonment. There should also be a campaign providing knowledge and understanding to the people who wish to keep animals before they decide to do so. Furthermore, after they have decided to keep these pets, they have to make commitment to take care of their pets. What is equally important is a campaign for people in the community to adopt homeless animals as well as to get their pets fixed. Some people believe that spaying or neutering animals are sinful. Then, what do you call an act of leaving them to their fate by letting them randomly reproduce, then leaving their offspring to struggle on their own to survive in this world? Don't you think this is more sinful? This problem can not be solved if no one is willing to help or to cooperate. Today, many people pass over their responsibilities and turn them into the society's heavy burden. Often, the lives of these abandoned dogs or cats are destroyed on the streets because they were once domestic pets; therefore they do not know how to survive on the streets. Some of them do not even know how to dig for food from trashcans. A spaying or neutering program by the authorities is a good thing. However, if people do not stop abandoning their pets, this problem will never be solved. We must attack the problem at its root cause.

We at Pic-A-Pet4Home believe that there are kind and loving people out there who want to see dogs and cats living in harmony with humans. What we are trying to achieve is to campaign for people in society to give love to homeless pets. These pets used to have a home; some of them used to have owners. Unfortunately, when people lose the love for their pets, these pets end up abandoned in temples, streets, or trash dumps. Are they wrong for growing bigger? Are they at fault for not looking as cute and adorable as before? It is true that a little kitten or a little puppy can be very cute. However, even though their appearances have changed with time, their loving hearts towards you is the one thing that will never change. Your pet has unconditional love for you. Every time you come home or every time they see you, their hearts are pounding with joy and their tails are wagging earnestly for you. Our “Foster Home” provides an opportunity for homeless animals or once domestic pets (before they were dumped) to have a warm and loving home again.

The purpose of Pic-A-Pet4Home is to search for people to adopt homeless pets, be it a dog or a cat, of any age – baby, adolescent, or adult. It does not matter whether the person who wants to adopt a pet is rich or poor. We are open to all people who have love in their hearts and are willing to do their best in raising their pet. We do not want to see these poor animals losing their lives by being abused or killed. They are not some kind of environmental pollution that many of you might think. They are pets that have much love to give and need a little warmth and affection from you in return. They have flesh and blood like all of us. They feel pain just like us. We are trying to place dogs and cats that we are trying to place into adoptive homes that are healthy and disease free. They do not have ticks, fleas or skin diseases. They are friendly because we nurture them; and they do not bite. For those of you who want to adopt a dog or a cat, please be assured that there is absolutely no expense. After you bring a dog or cat home, we may call and inquire how they are. We may also call again when they reach the age to be spayed or neutered. We do this because we do not want to see the number of homeless animal increase.

Pic-A-Pet4Home group was formally established on August 1, 2004. The group consists of compassionate people who have provided help and loving care for homeless animals for more than 10 years. Moreover, Pic-A-Pet4Home has many honorary advisors who are veterinarians and staff member from various animal care organizations to provide us with knowledge and advice.

We are united as a group to try our best to convince society to give these homeless animals, our underprivileged friends, a chance. Please show compassionate by adopting these animals. We believe the homeless animal problem will gradually disappear. We also believe that adopting a homeless animals is the gentle way to combat this problem. Besides, this will give you a chance to make merit as well as to gain true friends who are ready to love you unconditionally with all their hearts.
